Manga Hair

It's important to realize that bangs come out of the hairline. When you visualize or even sketch out the hair line as I have above, the hair will all be uniform and look real.

Make sure that the hair isn't stuck to the skull by giving it some volume (unless your OC has a shaved head). Just a little bit will do- the more cartoony a character, the more volume.

Besides those two basic rules, hair variations have no limits! Here are a few common ones in my style. Instead of illustrating each strand, I organize the hair into 'clumps' that are much easier to tackle.

Remember to mind the HAIRLINE and VOLUME, and to divide the hair into sections. Have at it! here are a a few of my chibi girl characters- notice how there's more volume in a chibi's hair vz. Manga character- and yet they all have noticeable hair sections and a consistent hairline.

 "You Greatness is not what you have, it's what you give." When I feel I have nothing to give, I give a smile. :) I love the My Neighbor Totoro movie! As vital to my childhood story as mud puddles and my first 'I know how to read' books.

New Character! Her look is almost exactly that of Jairshon (Totally stole my own oc), but she's a Technopath superhero! Working on a project with friends to make the Windows applications into a superhero team like the avengers.

 ^^Me from my webtoon 'not so generic' with my friend Noviden. Her Webtoon is 'Fellow Thoughts'. These are both miniature watercolors- and honestly, I can count the number of times my watercolors turned out alright on one hand- but I love these!

Here my webtoon me, Beckah, from my webtoon is standing in for myself. My birthday was last month! Turned 17 this year! My birthday happens to be on America's National Opposite day. :`)
