Manga Graphic Novel Comics

Graphic Novel or Comic? Not all Comics are funny, not all Graphic novels are serious. I will use the term graphic novel to refer to an entire project( like a manga) and comic for a one page or several page long comic.

These two pages come from a short comic I just finished. Both used the same panel format, but as I continue through the comic I switched it up a little with different panel sizes and placement.
I'm not new to making comics with my chibis, but I wanted to be able to express my stories with a little more clarity and raise my output rate, so I started taking a comics course this year.

These are from my class portfolio. In the first I was supposed to draw one chibi running and another staggering. A speeding car( It sucks, I know), a falling ball and a newspaper in the wind.
The second is a representation of three one-panel scenes:
1) person 1 shoots gun, bullet breaks chandelier chain, chandelier falls on person 2
2) Ball crashes through window, and through newspaper, person 1 reacts
3) person 1 trips person 2 and laughs while person 2 stumbles and pushes over a lamp.
This one my mom said looked like someone on the toilet. I don't blame her.

I learned from other students and my mom that people don't see things the same way. We, as artists, can see one thing, and the readers can see something totally different; like a toilet.
