Art pays off for christmas

Because I spend a lot of time drawing and creating crafts, I can always incorporate my art into the gifts I make for family. :)
My little sister loves drawing and looks up to 'the big three' (my two older sisters and I) as idols. She loves coloring as well. She likes fantasy creatures and so I tried to pull out my old animal drawing skills and try a few so that I could create a coloring book for her. :)

And then of course I drew some people as well. She's not old enough to care that everything isn't perfect, which has allowed me a break from my own perfectionism( and major procrastination).

This one on the right is really just aph England because I wanted to draw Hetalia fanart but I knew that I needed to finish my family christmas presents. I did both. ;)

  1. Wow! You can do people and animals, too?! XD I love those fantasy animals! The deer with the sleeping child is amazing! And the unicorn and the little kid is so cute! >.< Ah! So much cuteness.
How long does it take you to make one of these pictures? You do them so well!
I like your idea for giving pictures as Christmas gifts. Your sister will love them! (At least, I know I would if I was your little sis! XD )

    1. I can kinda do animals. My sisters were better at it so when I was a kid I decided to draw people instead, and now I wish I had stuck with both. :/
Thanks for the compliments! They make me feel warm an' fuzzy :P
It's a little tradition in my family for the older kids to give art gifts. These pictures are getting stapled together( along with a few others) as a coloring book. The hardest picture here was the deer w/ the child and that took about 30 minutes. ;)
Do you like coloring books? Or do you like create/color your own art? (Or both) I mainly do black and white, but I really want to work on my color technique this year! :D

    3. XD I just do people, too. ^.^ I have done a few cutesy doodle animals before. But they aren't at all perfect.

Aww, you're welcome! I'm glad I can make you happy. :D

Wow! That's a fabulous idea!!!!! Hmm... maybe I should do that sometime for my siblings... ^.^

Only 30 minutes?! I think would take like hours and hours and hours! XD And even then, it would still not have the same perfect look yours has.

I showed my oldest sis these pictures. And she loves them, too.

Yeah, I do like coloring books. (Or I should say, I like printing pictures off the computer and coloring them.) My favorite pictures to color are ones with people. I just love coloring outfits and hair!
I got a Peter Pan coloring book this year. It's seriously adorable. (But I have only colored part of one picture so far... XD ) I love Peter Pan. >.<

I don't usually color my drawings. I seem to only color them when they are for someone else. XD For past few Valentine's days, I draw and color pictures for my siblings and parents. XD I'm not quite sure why I give them pictures then, but I do. XD
When I draw, I usually look at another picture and copy off that. That way I know how to shade and stuff.

How long have you been drawing? I would love to see you art when you first started drawing. :D

Do you think I could print some of your pictures, just to color for my own pleasure? (I hope that didn't sound weird... XD )

Sorry this comment has gotten to be email size... XD Oops!

    4. Lol! Just saw your comment about the my profile pic. And, no, sadly, I'm not that good at drawing chibi. I found that picture off of a game for dressing up chibi girls. XD

    5. You can print them out if you want ;) Only some of them are printable; these are, but there are other grey-scale ones that come out really fuzzy w/ broken lines.
I started drawing *thinks for a sec* wow. In three days I'll have been drawing manga for four years. I might make a post soon with comparisons between now art and back-then art.
      Feel free to email questions!
